Admission Requirements to SARA STREET SOBER HOUSE:


  • The applicant is sober and has "marbled out" or graduated from an inpatient treatment program of 70 days or more.
  • The applicant attended a 28-day program and then subsequently attended IOP, if the applicant has maintained sobriety and has at least 90 days sober. 
  • Or the applicant has over three months of sobriety by actively working an AA program with a sponsor, who vouches for the applicant.
  • The applicant must be referred by a counselor, AA sponsor, or current resident.
  • The applicant agrees to the terms of the Sara Street Social and Financial Contracts, attached.
  • SARA STREET GRADUATED LIVING does not accept applicants who use prescription narcotic

Resident Requirements

  • Drugs and Alcohol: Refusal to submit to random drug tests will result in immediate eviction. You will be asked to leave immediately if you relapse. No exceptions.
  • Meetings: Residents are encouraged to begin their stay at SARA STREET SOBER HOUSE must participate in a minimum of five meetings a week. This may include IOP meetings. Only one of these meetings may be by Zoom. All meetings must be appropriately verified and reviewed by the house manager.
  • House Meetings: The house meeting will be held every Sunday evening at 6 PM, followed by an in-house AA meeting at 7:00 PM. All residents must attend unless they have obtained permission to be absent by the house manager.
  • House Cleaning: Residents are required to keep their rooms clean every day, minimally making their beds and keeping their possessions orderly. Residents will be assigned weekly chores by the house manager to keep the house in order. Residents will thoroughly clean the house on Sundays to prepare for the in-house meeting, when the house manager and the owner will inspect the premises. 
  • Food: We have a communal kitchen. You are provided storage space in a refrigerator and in a cabinet. Do not leave food out on counters. No eating in the bedrooms. Clearly mark personal food. Do not steal food or other items. Stealing of any kind will be grounds for immediate eviction.
  • Medications: Dual-diagnosis residents are required to take prescribed medication. Use of narcotic medications is not allowed in the house. Lending or borrowing prescribed medication is grounds for eviction. All medication must be in their labeled bottles.
  • Curfew: All residents are to be present in the house from 11 PM to 5:00 AM, unless the resident has received a pass from the house manager for visiting family or conducting legitimate, verifiable work.
  • Sex: Overnight guests are not allowed in the house. Sexual relations are not allowed in the house. 
  • Your Program: Residents must have a verifiable sponsor within one week of moving in. Residents must have a home group; they are encouraged to do service work.
  • Employment: Residents must work a minimum of 30 hours a week. No grave-yard shifts.
  • Quiet Time: Observed from 11:30 PM until 6:30 AM. Residents should be asleep or in their rooms. No loud music or talking on cell phones. No cooking in the kitchen. Keep conversation at a low level, away from the bedrooms. The TV in the common room will remain off during this time. 
  • The Common Room: For house meetings and shared television and movie enjoyment. Do not leave personal belongings in the common areas. 
  • Morning Coffee Ritual: At 7 AM every morning, the house provides coffee for a morning meeting for a check-in, non-denominational prayer, and reading of “24 Hours a Day” and “Daily Reflections.” 
  • Washer/Dryer: Our laundry appliances are communal. Do not leave clothes in the washer or dryer. Do not leave the house while doing laundry. No laundry after 11:30 PM.
  • Rent: Rent is due on the day you move in. Weekly rent is due at the Sunday meeting. Monthly rent is due on the first of each month. No exceptions. There will be a $15 a day fee assessed for late rent. No refunds for early move out. 
  • Damages: The house is not responsible for any damages incurred to property on the premises. The house is not responsible for any damages when residents lend money, clothing, cars, jewelry, etc.
  • Vacating Premises: Upon vacating, any personal items left over 5 days will be donated to charity.
  • House Manager: The house manager has the final say in domestic house matters.
